Campaign Details
2024 was as challenging as it was rewarding for P4P. The number of homeless animals in TX continued to grow dramatically. We were able to save some, but many never made it out of the shelters. We want to save more in 2025, but we need fosters, and we need funding. Fundraising revenues are down this year and expenses are up. For the first year, we did not receive any matching funds from NTX Giving day. We are concerned going into next year.
Now to the rewarding part of 2024, and why we need your help to continue. To date we have saved 436 dogs, many of them were sick, injured or mal-nourished. Some were puppies born in shelters that later broke out in Parvo. Some were breeder release dogs that had never lived outside a crate and bred litter after litter of pups until they were too sick and old to breed anymore. Some were strays that never made it to a shelter, only to be hit by a car. But almost all made their way to a new life, totally healed and so happy to have their second chance at a wonderful home full of love for them.
These are just a few of the stories from the 436 dogs that we have saved this year.
Wendell
Wendell came to P4P, close to starvation with two broken hips. He had been hit by a car as he was trying to seek help by running from owners who left him outside all the time, and only fed him part of the time. Wendell went through two painful operations and many months of care in TX, before he finally went up North. Today Wendell is thriving with a new mom who adores him. He is an only dog and clearly the object of her attention and affection.
Sparkle
Sparkle came to us from a back yard breeder. She was scared to death, only had 3 teeth left and mammary tumors. Sparkle was almost 9 years old. Sparkle needed immediate medical care, but before she even went to the vet, Sparkle gave her foster mom a HUGE surprise. She birthed a baby overnight! Poor Sparkle, who had been a mom to numerous litters had to be a mom once again. Mom and baby went to the vets who were shocked. Baby was healthy. Mom needed dental care and needed to have her tumors removed. Mom and baby were too fragile to go on a normal transport so her amazing foster drove them both up north, where they found new homes filled with love.
Trudy and Tony
One of our volunteers agreed to go to the shelter to pick Tony and Trudy up. She was completely floored when she got there and Trudy was covered in drool and could hardly stand up, but even so, her tiny tail tried to wag. Trudy wanted to live. Trudy and Tony were taken directly to the ER where Trudy tested positive for Parvo, one of the most deadly puppy diseases. She was hositalized for 4 days. A day later Tony got sick too. Puppies hardly ever live when they become ill with Parvo, but this year a new monoclonal anitibody injection became available. At $1,000 a shot, it is very expensive, but we were able to cover it. Both pups are now living their best life in Minnesota.
These are just some of many many stories of dogs and cats that were rescued by P4P in 2024. We were able to save so many dogs because of YOUR love and support. There are still so many that are waiting to be saved.....but that part never changes. We need to prepare for 2025 and we have to start now. PLEASE, could you spare a small donation towards the costs of food, insurance, and medical expenses for next year. The great news is this. UNLIKE NORTH TEXAS GIVING, your donation to Giving Grid will be matched!!!
THANK YOU so much for donating, and if you can't afford to help, please share this campaign with your friends.
The P4P Board with love!

Passport for Paws
About the Organization
Passport for Paws is a 501(c)3 volunteer-based rescue committed to saving code-red animals from local Texas shelters. Local Texas rescues can’t keep up with the animal demand. Passport for Paws alleviates the burden by fostering and transporting animals to rescues throughout the US. In most cases, our animals are adopted prior to arriving onsite. In 2017, we saved 551 animals, in 2018 we made it to 957, in 2019 we had 1,015 animals, but we topped the charts in 2020 with 1054!
