Helping the Animal Tornado Victims

We urgently need your help!

Here we go! We have heard from people in the Mayfield/Marshall County KY area. We have not heard from the Princeton KY area. There are no cell phone towers and there is no electricity in many areas. Some areas are on boil water orders and there are some places that won't have water until mid-January.

We will be headed there to provide supplies and take animals out that are already in the shelters to make space for displaced animals. We have also offered to take any injured animals to get them specialty vet services that are not available in the area, until they can be reunited with families.

Please help us take care of these helpless animals.

It’s so sad and heartbreaking to think of all the people and animals who were fine one moment and then devastated the next…

If you live in the middle TN area, this is what we need for people to bring to us at the kennel:

• Dog food
• Cat food
• Cat litter
• Aluminum trays for disposable cat boxes
• Slip leads
• Crates
• Dog beds and blankets
• Newspapers without the ad inserts
• Puppy pads
• Towels
• Bleach
• Spray bottles
• Disposable bowls for drinking and eating (no water to wash dog dishes)

This can all be delivered to 196 Jefferson Pk La Vergne TN. We will likely head up multiple times. We will also be bringing supplies for humans…

We also desperately needs donations, because we will be buying lots of veterinary medical supplies and vaccines for the area shelters. We’ll also be incurring large expenses to treat and care for the animals we bring back.

In addition and if you live in middle TN and have barn space and can stable a horse or you have a trailer and can help move a horse, please send an email to sarah.romeyn@bigfluffydogs.com and give her your contact info. We understand that there are many horses in need of help, some injured by flying debris and we will put those people in touch.

Once again, please help us with your donations if you can. If not, we understand, but sharing can also help. Thank you!

About the Organization

Big Fluffy Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping giant breed mixed breed dogs in need. We value dogs of all breeds, but we specialize in what the name says: big, fluffy dogs. We also have a fair assortment of honorary fluffies who don’t fall into the traditional fluffy mold but are with us anyway and we love their tiny/non-fluffy selves as much as the others.

Thank you so much for helping our efforts in Kentucky! This doesn't happen without you.

The first 21 dogs and 10 cats from Mayfield and Benton KY will arrive this evening at our kennel. Here are a few pics of these babies. Sorry, I have zero cat pics as they are most displeased with their accommodations being forced to travel with dogs... ????

All of these dogs are dogs that were in the shelter before the tornado hit or that have been surrendered since. I can't tell you a thing about them yet - not their age, gender, how they are with kids, cats or dogs. What I can tell you is that they have been through a horrific event and they are grateful to be safe.

We could definitely use some foster help in the mid TN/AL area. If you can foster, send an email to sarah.romeyn@bigfluffydogs.com.

The devastation up there is everything you've heard about and 1000% worse. Say a prayer for them and continue to share. They need it.

    Warm regards,
    Big Fluffy Dog Rescue

P.S. These dogs are NOT currently adoptable. They have not had any vetting. They will eventually be adoptable.
