URGENT! Immediate open-heart

Urgent help needed for Honey Bear!

URGENT! Honey Bear requires immediate open-heart surgery.

Honey Bear, a honey-colored Chihuahua, as sweet as her name, is a petite 11-week-old who entered our care with what was thought to be a heart murmur. Unfortunately, it's worse, much worse.

She's suffering from a condition called Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), a congenital heart defect that, without surgery, can result in eventual left-sided heart disease and/or generalized heart failure.

Simply put, without surgery, Honey Bear will die. The estimated cost of this life-saving operation is between $5,000 - $7,000.

Please donate and help us save this wonderful little girl.

    Honey Bear Update,

Honey Bear is now settled and recovering well. She is still on pain meds, but is making progress every day. Honey has no residual effects and her heart is healing and no more heart murmur. As she continues to heal, we are forever grateful to all who have donated to make this miracle possible. Our surgeon at CSU Teaching Veterinary Hospital was amazing and did a spectacular job. Honey Bear will now continue to heal and have her sutures out in 2 weeks.

Again, a most sincere and heart felt thank you to you all! Be well and be safe! Honey Bear sends her thanks as well!

    Thank you,
    Sue Fisher

We have wonderful news in this time of uncertainty. Because of the daily changes of services provided, CSU moved up Honey Bear's surgery date to yesterday, March 25th. We spent the day traveling to the veterinary hospital and were in communication with the surgeon by phone several times yesterday. Honey was approved for surgery and they took her directly in. It was an emotional whirlwind.

We were informed that the surgery was SUCCESSFUL. They were able to close the hole in Honey Bear's heart. She was doing so well that they were able to remove the chest tube last night. At our last update yesterday evening, she was doing great for being such a tiny girl. We will be receiving an update this morning and she may be able to come home later today!

Our hearts, at the rescue, are full and overflowing with gratitude to all who have donated on GIVINGGRID and for the platform to assist us in making Honey Bear's surgery a reality. Your generosity in these uncertain times is amazing and we couldn't have done it without you.

We will be posting an update with photos of our sweet Honey Bear as soon as she is home and settled.

Again, a most sincere and heart felt thank you to you all! Be well and be safe!

    Thank you,
    Sue Fisher
