Yay, today is every charity’s HOPEFUL day of the year—Giving Tuesday!
This day is designated as Giving Tuesday, a special opportunity for charities to receive the generous donations that make a real difference for those in need.
Why choose my foundation, the Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation?
I have been rescuing animals since 1997, after the devastating loss of my mother and my beloved personal dogs. Rescuing animals was a way to heal my broken heart. In 2003, to ensure accountability and transparency, I officially became a designated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
I began rescuing and saving animals from Los Angeles shelters, but my work expanded in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. At the request of the Humane Society’s main rescue coordinator—who you may remember as the brave person seen pulling boats through floodwaters to save animals and people—I was asked to assist with the disaster relief effort.
The trauma of Hurricane Katrina left everyone involved scarred for life, many with PTSD. After days of searching through the devastation, I was asked to help remove 350 remaining animals. I initially volunteered without intending to bring animals home, but 51 very sick and lucky dogs accompanied me back to California. My story of hope and resilience began there.
To continue supporting these dogs, as well as the California shelter dogs I had already rescued, I established the Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation Rescue Center by purchasing the property where we still operate today. On December 5, we celebrate 18 years on this property!
I initially gave my word to dedicate two years to this cause—but here I am, 18 years later, still keeping that promise. I have never abandoned my commitment to make a difference, even though it came at the expense of my career. While it saddens me, I still believe we can make a lasting impact—but I need your help.
At the Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation, we work tirelessly to not only rescue dogs but also to carefully rehome them into loving forever families. We are proud to say we have a 100% success rate, ensuring the perfect match for both dog and human. Each adoption is a story of love and hope fulfilled.
The challenges we face today
We rescue dogs from the streets, deserts, and other places where they have been abandoned. The animal crisis is worse now than ever before. Many dogs released from shelters have not been spayed or neutered, which only adds to the heartbreaking cycle of overpopulation and neglect. We work tirelessly to keep the shelter system accountable and to advocate for proper care and public outreach, but too often, these pleas fall on deaf ears.
How your donations help
We are hoping you will dig deep into your pockets this year—every donation counts! Our work is about saving lives. Personally, I have been working to stamp out cancer in both humans and animals, as well as liver and kidney disease. This mission is deeply personal to me, as I lost my mother to cancer and my beloved dogs to other illnesses.
It’s all in the food. We hope you’ve been watching and listening to my hard work. My only desire is to save animals and give them more time to spend with their loving families.
On this Giving Tuesday, we’re looking to the future. My dream is to help even more animals in need, start an online education program with veterinarians and animal welfare experts, and continue advocating for a better world for animals and humans alike.
A personal note from me
You may remember my Masked Singer performance in 2022, where I learned I am severely allergic to the desert environment where I currently live. This has affected my health, including my singing range, as I also have a polyp that cannot be removed until I relocate to a healthier place. Despite these challenges, I remain committed to our rescue efforts and am working hard to find a better environment where I can continue this vital work.
Please tell your friends about my hard work, our mission, and how much your support means to me. You, our supporters, are my family—the family of people who truly care about our planet and the animals we share it with.
I look forward to feeling the joy of your love and financial support today and always. Together, we can make a difference for the animals and for the future of our world.
The time is more urgent than ever. This overwhelming crisis affects people, animals, and every rescuer working tirelessly for change.
We also have a Chewy wish list where you can donate food, toys, and treats!
With love, gratitude, and hope for a better tomorrow,
Linda Blair
