They begged for her life

Urgent help needed for Tasha!

We received a call from a family in desperate need. Tasha, their beloved one-year-old dog, is in critical condition. She is vomiting, weak, and has blood pouring from her backside.

Her family rushed her to an emergency hospital for care, and were presented with a bill to save her life. The cost was in the thousands, and they simply did not have the funds.

They took Tasha home in hopes of a miracle. They wrote to us, and we could hear their cries in their note. We took one look at Tasha and knew if we didn't step up, she would never make it.

We took Tasha into our care. Can you help us save her?

About the Organization

In 2009, NYC Second Chance Rescue began as a small dream, founded on the firm belief that all animals deserve love and care, and that no animal should ever be subjected to abuse, neglect or homelessness. All proceeds go directly to the animals, and to date, we have relied solely on donations from loyal supporters. Our mission is to offer a second chance to those animals less fortunate — those with critical medical, emotional or behavioral issues.

??Last week we asked for your help in saving a dog named Tasha. Her family contacted us, desperate to save their beloved dog. Tasha had become critically ill, and the family rushed her to an ER for care. They were presented with a bill in the thousands. They would do anything for their dog but they simply did not have the funds for her care. We could feel the desperation in their email and took one look at Tasha and knew we had to help.

We rushed her to our partner vet, where they worked to stabilize her. For many days Tasha remained critically ill; her symptoms included vomiting, bloody diarrhea, refusing to eat, and lethargy. Ultrasounds were performed, x-rays were taken, and still no answer. She tested negative for every test but one ??

Tasha was diagnosed with Coronavirus. Canine Coronavirus is a highly infectious intestinal infection that caused all her symptoms. Some cases quickly resolve while others become critical. Tasha received iv antibiotics to cover any secondary infection, and fluids.

We are happy to share that Tasha is finally on the mend. She is eating on her own and getting stronger every day. Tasha is still hospitalized but is expected to be released soon.

We want to thank you for helping us keep this family together. Thanks to you and so many other wonderful caring people, we're just a couple hundred dollars from our goal. Your support means everything to us.
