Go Big and Go Home 25K Matching Fund

Welcome to our GO BIG AND GO HOME 25K Matching Campaign. We are super excited to announce this amazing opportunity for YOU to GIVE to help our pets.  Just think, for every dollar you donate, it will be matched up to $25,000!  This is a huge campaign for us and it will run til Giving Tuesday on December 3.  It was easy to come up with our slogan because the more you give, the more we can continue to provide top notch care - medically, physically and emotionally to our pets- as we prime them for the adoption floor.  YOUR gift no matter how small or large is meaningful and it will be doubled!  Join us today and let's get our pets home!

CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB VERY WELL DONE!

As we embark upon what will surely be another very busy week, we'd like to take a pause and thank YOU for making our Go Big and Go Home 25K Matching Fundraising Campaign such an amazing success!!! We are grateful for each and every donation which all added up to a beautiful 15K!! While we did not make a full match, we also had some very sizable checks that were dropped off at our office which pushed the total to closer to 20K. Just WOW!

This was a new style of fundraising campaign and we loved seeing all the pics and words from the humans and their 4 leggeds who supported us on this major undertaking. It's heartwarming to see so many people giving to help us, help the pets in our county!

Please take the time to give yourself a huge pat on the back for a job very well done. We can't do what we do without YOUR support. We will continue to look at other creative avenues to keep the giving fun while providing the best care we can to the 4 leggeds entrusted to us. Thank you again for joining in our campaign and partnering with us to make the biggest impact on the pets in Oconee County! We are grateful.

    Afternoon OHS Fan!

Our GO BIG & GO HOME 25K Matching Campaign continues to move along nicely thanks to YOUR support.  THANK YOU!  Last night was a fun evening as we did a late in the day post on our Facebook page asking for your support and folks gave.   We brought in almost 1K last night and the pets are most grateful for YOUR generosity.  Currently,  we are at 18% of our goal of 25K but there is still time (Our campaign runs through Giving Tuesday Dec 3) and with folks digging deeper in their pockets and or folks sharing this amazing opportunity for gifts to be matched, we are confident our goal will be met.

In the meantime, we snapped some pics on this pretty fall day so you can see the smiles of appreciation of just a few pets that will benefit from your gift.  We're honored to be the custodians of so many pets helping them be at their best day to day and then connecting them up with their families.  Thank you for giving and being a part of their success story!

    Good Evening OHS Fan!

We could not be more pleased that you have opted to get in on the giving fun with our new fundraising platform.   Our tiles are filling up with pictures and warm thoughts and words of encouragement.  THANK YOU for helping to make this happen!

As you may have noticed,  we ran a special "Pop Up" match for a few hours yesterday afternoon which netted another $500 in donations.  We had an anonymous donor challenging folks to give $250 from 2pm- 7pm last night.  The money came in and the anonymous donor in turn dropped $250 into the fund!!  It was truly a match on a match!

We've included an image which we hope you will find inspiring.  Our success and our ability to care for our pets is directly tied into monetary donations.  We rely on them to do the daily work that we do.  The attachment shows a foster's grandchild with 2 fosters, Professor Plum and Colonel Mustard (in the far background).  These kittens were found just shy of being 100% bottle feeders and landed in foster homes where they were cared for til their were old enough and big enough to hit the adoption floor.  They both were adopted within the last 2 weeks.  YES!!

We share their story because gifts just like YOURS made it to possible for us to get these wee ones into their new homes.  Both of these kitties arrived in depleted health.  In particular,  they both suffered from ooey, goopy eyes.  If left untreated,  sight could have been lost.  Thanks to the expertise of our Feline Cat Coordinator, Shelley, she was able to diagnose and get the meds into the hand of the foster.  Their eyes were persistent in getting all gummy and yucky,  however the foster was fastidious in cleaning and medicating the eyes and weeks later,  they finally had turned a corner and were staying clear!  YEAH!  We're super lucky to have Shelley on our staff as she brings so much knowledge, insight and talent to our feline department.  Giving allows us to retain skilled staff and purchase meds to support our pets.

Your gift matters and is appreciated so thank you again! We have a couple of surprises down the road for this campaign and we look forward to sharing those with you.  Recall, our campaign runs through Giving Tuesday (Dec 3) and every dollar we receive up to 25K will be matched.  Currently, we have $2680 in our fund.  We have more stories and joy to share with you in the interim so please stay tuned in and keep filling the till if you like and or please share our fund on your Facebook page.  Every bit helps.

Thank you for being a part of our rehoming success story.   We'll be in touch and can't wait to see how far this campaign will go as the word is spread and other animal lovers join our giving campaign.

MORE ABOUT US:

Did you know we’re celebrating over 50 yrs of providing a humane and compassionate future for every animal?  This is one of the biggest matching campaigns we've undertaken and we're thrilled you are looking at it and hopefully engaging in it!  Our pets are relying on YOU, yes YOU to help them find their happily-ever-after.  By giving to this campaign, you will directly aid in our ability to care for and rehome pets in Oconee County SC.  We rely on donations to do the work we do!

WHO ARE WE?
Our mission is to improve the health and welfare of Oconee County residents by providing animals with vital support through adoption, rescue, spay/neuter, wellness, advocacy and other education programs. We operate separately from Animal Control and are responsible for the adoption and spay/neuter programs. We rely on donations to save lives. We aggressively pursue grant funding, actively fundraise and turn to the community to support us financially.

WHY ARE WE BUSY?
Did you know last year Animal Control took in over 2100 pets? That’s a lot of paws! The vast majority of those pets wound up under our care and were either adopted locally or pulled by rescue groups. On average, we do adoption events 3x/month off site and during peak periods have our cats in satellite adoption sites. Through our trap/neuter/release cat program, our volunteers trapped 387 cats last year and assisted the public in trapping 392. In addition, we offer low cost fee spay/neuter vouchers and also income based vouchers to Oconee residents. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, we offer a free pet food pantry to help keep pets and their humans together. We’re busy!

FUN FACTS ABOUT US!
*Did you know FOX News Carolina Greenville features our pets every 5 weeks for a full week? *During peak cat/kitten season we have 200+ felines in foster care! *For Thanksgiving and Christmas, volunteers cook a hot meal for all of our pets.

Curious Numbers for 2023: *2092 pets received free vaccines. *Our spay/neuter clinic performed 2061 surgeries. *Volunteers logged 22,000 hours. *One of our volunteers drove over 10K miles to transport 187 pets to rescue/foster homes. *66302 lbs of pet food were distributed to those in need.
