Guiness’s story is beyond heartbreaking. He was dumped in a rural southern shelter and spent 175 long and lonely days there before SNARR rescued him. He was so afraid that he wouldn’t leave his kennel for two months. Guiness was adopted and they almost euthanized him but SNARR insisted he be returned to our rescue safe and sound.
Guiness was placed into foster care THREE long years ago and sadly has never had a SINGLE adoption application. We know he was not an easy placement but it still broke our hearts that not a single person ever even showed interest in adopting this sweet boy. Guinness has been cared for and loved by SNARR and his amazing, dedicated foster family.
A few weeks ago his fosters noticed Guiness seemed off balance and not himself. After seeing the neurologist and receiving an MRI, it was discovered that Guiness was not only shot in the head, but he has an aggressive form of brain cancer. Without treatment, he will rapidly decline and likely pass away within weeks or months. The only silver lining here is that Guiness is an excellent candidate for a targeted surgical radiation treatment that can completely stop his tumor from growing and there is even a small chance it can go into remission altogether !!! Guiness underwent a battery of tests to make sure his cancer had not spread any further which thank goodness, it hasn’t.
We have to work fast as Guiness is showing many clinical signs of his tumor.
This treatment is his only chance and in total, even with our discount, everything will cost our rescue approximately $14,000. We know this seems crazy but we simply cannot imagine not giving this special and forgotten boy the best chance possible to continue experiencing being a loved and spoiled member of a family. Even when Guiness went to see the Radiation Oncologist yesterday, he was wagging his tail and greeting everyone.
When a Snarr dog fights, we fight along with them !!! Please please please help Guiness !!!
