No Mutts Left Behind

We urgently need your help!

"Each day I have to come in and make decisions for the dogs, such as who is getting a pool today, who can I give medication to and who will go without. I am playing God each day with the animals I love and it is heart wrenching."

These are the words of a nearly defeated animal Rescuer at The Humane Society of the Delta located in the 4th poorest county in the nation! The buildings are with out air, they lack much needed medications, and volunteers to keep things going. Many of the dogs come with severe injuries and are heart worm positive. They have reached out for help and we have heard their cries!

Campaign Details

I would like to introduce you to the Humane Society of the Delta located in Helena, AR. The 4th highest impoverished county in the Nation!
The Humane Society of the Delta is the home to 230 adult dogs, 27 puppies, 14 parvo positive dogs, and 7 newborns. They have 250 kennels. The property consists of a 15,000 sq ft warehouse, several outbuildings, a medical building and a concrete shelter with no walls. At the helm are 2 very dedicated and loving women whose lives revolve around the care, rescuing, rehabilitating, nurturing and most importantly loving the abandoned and abused dogs of Delta County.
In the deep south the temperatures average low 90s in the summer with an average humidity of 50%. Lack of air conditioning can be a death sentence. Sadly, in this situation lack of air is not the only obstacle these pups are facing. Flies and mosquitoes are not only an irritant they are so prevalent that dogs are left with open sores on their ears and bodies. Parvo and heart-worm (95% of dogs are heart-worm positive) are another thing that runs rampant and with money in short supply the medications needed to thwart these easily preventable illnesses are hard to come by.

There are so many obstacles and hurdles that we could write a book; however lets focus on the solutions. The following is the list of items that we are working to raise money for:
  1. An AC unit in each building (Estimated cost: 15,000)
  2. Medications (Dewormer, vaccinations, Advantix, Sentinel, etc)
  3. Plastic swimming pools
  4. Dog Food
We decided to embark on this mission because we know we have the most amazing supporters out there. Each and everyone of you has given of yourselves in some way or another! Your love and dedication to these animals is apparent to us by all you have done and continue to do. We Believe with your help We can save the lives of the Delta Dogs and the Deltas that are to come!
