Bayou's loving eyes closed-forever

My beautiful Catahoula Bayou, my best friend for 14 yrs, was always by my side from 5 weeks old, until cancer took her life May 4.

Chemo is great for some dogs; not for my Bayou. I could see the confusion, the disorientation, and the pain in her eyes.

I let her go with dignity. Selfishness was no option.

In memory of your precious pets that you love, & have loved & lost, I need your help to pay the costs incurred while trying to save her life.

Campaign Details

Cancer claimed the life of my 14 year old Catahoula girl, Bayou, on May 4, 2015. Dr. Toms with Congo Road Animal Hospital in Benton, AR, was so wonderful. He performed blood work, and tried rounds of antibiotics and steroids which seemed to be working ! However, her lymph nodes kept swelling back up.

He then performed a biopsy.

The results ripped my heart out - it was lymphoma.

I wanted to save her.

Dr. Katie Baeyens with Baeyens-Hauk Veterinary Hospital in Sherwood, AR, was so kind, and helped alleviate my fears about chemotherapy for Bayou, advising that chemo was not as harsh on most dogs as it is on humans, and could perhaps even bring her into remission, which I was so praying would happen.

Hoping to give my Bayou more time, with her quality of life intact, we went for it. Bayou received her first injection, and she seemed to be responding so well!

I felt such hope! Then a few days later, I saw confusion, disorientation, and pain in her beautiful eyes. She was also unable to maintain control of her bodily functions.

There was no way I could let my best friend live like this.

Bayou had always been there for me, with her warm blue merle body beside me, listening to me talk, letting me hold her when I needed to cry, always showing me such unconditional love.

Bayou's beautiful cracked brown eyes always shone lime green when in the sunlight. When I saw the pain in those loving eyes, I had to let her go to God.

I'm asking for help to pay the bills for all of the care she received from both of these wonderful veterinarians, which totaled over $1400. I had to borrow the money to pay them, and I now need to repay the wonderful person that loaned the money to me to help me try to save my Bayou.

There are so very many of you that know this unconditional love.

My wish is that you would contribute in celebration of the pets still in your life, your families' lives, and your friends.

Also, please donate in the memory of those pets that you have loved so much, and lost, and please place their pictures on this page!

Thank you for being so understanding, and for loving your pets as you do.
