Puppy in hypovolemic shock and septic

Urgent help needed for Zero!

WE HAVE AN SOS

Last night we received a call about a puppy that was in desperate need of help. 4-month-old Zero arrived at Crown Veterinary Specialists last night, after being surrendered. The staff jumped right in to try and stabilize him.

He was in hypovolemic shock (see definition below) and septic.

They ran all kinds of tests to try and get to the root cause. He presented like a parvo dog, but 2 tests were negative. We sent a PCR out to the lab to be 100% sure since we still cannot rule it out as his white blood cells are extremely low and he has hemorrhagic diarrhea.

There's so much more, keep reading! Please help!

What is Hypovolemic shock?
Hypovolemic shock is an emergency condition in which severe blood or other fluid loss makes the heart unable to pump enough blood to the body. This type of shock can cause many organs to stop working.

The next thought was a foreign body obstruction since his previous “owner” showed videos as they watched the puppy eating things he shouldn't be like plastic and chicken bones. Really, videotaping him eating stuff he shouldn’t be doing and not doing anything about it?? Anyway, X-rays were sent to the radiologist and no foreign body was seen. What was seen were healed rib fractures, so we know he was injured at some point in his short life.

Zero is very sick and in less than 24 hours, his bill is over $3500 as he also received 2 plasma transfusions overnight and an ultrasound this morning.

This baby boy wants the chance to fight and we are going to give him that chance. We need help and prayers for baby Zero. Please consider donating to his care.

Our little fighter Zero is out of the hospital!! YAY!!

We were able to break him out yesterday and he went right into his new foster home. Even though we are still awaiting the final test from the lab, Parvovirus is the likely culprit. All signs, symptoms and bloodwork lead back to this.

It has been a long time since we have seen a dog this sick and we are just so happy that he has pulled through. Parvo is such a deadly virus and a lot of dogs do not make it through this.

Zero is getting himself some royal treatment and is settling in nicely. We are also thankful to Crown Veterinary Specialists and Emergency for taking such wonderful care of him and saving his life. Zero still has a long road to being fully recovered and symptom free but he is on the up and up.

Thank you again to everyone who has cared and donated!

Our sweetheart baby boy, Zero is still pretty sick. He's lethargic and leaking blood from his rectum.

We started getting some of the testing back and so far nothing has come back positive. Medical mystery of sorts but hopefully the pending ones will have some clearer answers. He is getting some IV nutrition at this point as well. He is making some minor improvements like his fever broke and he can lift his head up. Baby steps...

Hopefully we will have more answers very soon. We are determined to figure what's wrong with him and get him better. Thankfully, with your help we're able to cover a lot of these initial expenses. So a ginormous thank you to YOU!! ??????

    Love,
    Outcast Rescue
