Campaign Details
Tippy is now 9-months-old, and came from a breeder who is experiencing dementia. She couldn't care for her dogs anymore and her family reached out to AMAR to take some of her dogs. Two of the dogs were found by our vets and cardiologists to have PDAs. Tippy's case was the most urgent, so we pursued surgery for him first. The procedure Tippy needed, and just received, was open-chest surgery that involves making an incision between the ribs, exposing the heart, and tying off the PDA. This procedure is often used for small dogs and cats. Most untreated dogs with a PDA go into heart failure and die from it.
Tippy did very well with his surgery. The team that performed Tippy's surgery says he is recovering very well and, of course, everyone was happy to give him snuggles.Tippy will need to see a cardiologist several times a year for his whole life, but it's expected that he will have a normal lifespan, because of his surgery. Won't you help us defray the cost of this expensive surgery? Any amount is appreciated and sharing this campaign will also help.
