About The Samadhi Legacy Foundation (named after my dog who died from Lymphoma at 5 years of age):
Three years ago, on Facebook, I stumbled upon a dog that needed rescue. Little did I know, that I was beginning a path to my greatest purpose. We rescued that dog, named Tennyson, and another dog named Henry, who is the subject of a video on our website: Samadhilegacy.org. About a year and a half ago, I was visiting a friend of mine in Northern California, who rescued two of the dogs I saved from death-row (to date, we have saved approximately 200 dogs from death-row and from the streets). He asked if I wanted to visit a great rescue near him, called ARF. When I walked into their building, tears stung my eyes. I knew that something like this was my dream. It was a little, to me, like dreaming of winning an academy award- a nice idea, but I mean, let's be practical. When I asked the cost, I KNEW that I was only dreaming: $22 million. Since that day, we went on to build a reputation as a rescue that people trust. We don't shy away from "hard cases," due to medical needs, age or temperament. We filed for our 501 (c) (3), because we knew immediately that we wanted to do anything we could do to save as many as we can. About eight months ago, I met an amazing commercial real estate broker who doesn't understand the word "can't." Before her, I was dismissed by a couple of brokers who needed my first born child and a ten year business plan to even talk to me. I had all but given up on a property. When we met, she supported my dream and told me that it was possible. She then relentlessly looked until she found a place that she thought fit my vision. When I walked in, I knew. It wasn't the $22 million building but I am not a famous baseball team owner either. We have already saved dogs from the streets and shelters of the U.S., Mexico and Taiwan. 100% of our donations go to the dogs. There are no administrative costs that come from our donators. All of the other costs are paid personally by me, the founder, because I believe that donators money should go where they are intending it to go. We now are building a kennel facility with kennels that are comfortable and safe, an alarm system with cameras, so that the dogs are protected, a generator so that they are never at risk. We might even have a retail space and host dog birthday parties. Our intention is to save as many dogs as we can, socialize them, raise awareness about them and find them amazing homes. We are committed to a world-class organization and facility. We can't do this alone. If you believe in our vision: To save the ones that are discarded (we kill around 1 million Pit Bulls a year), it takes action- our wallets as well as our hearts. Our vision, "Until Every Cage is Empty," takes vast resources, education and change. We are committed and ask you to reach deep and help us give them a voice and a chance. If you have ever loved a dog, the thought of a needle taking their life away is inconceivable and yet, we do this everyday all over the world. Donate now and share this fundraiser. Together, eventually, we CAN save them all. It is, already, as you read this, too late for some. Help us save the ones that we still can.
The Samadhi Legacy Foundation is a no-kill shelter and training center for all breeds of dogs. Our 1st mission is to rescue, train, foster, and find permanent homes for all our breeds, with an emphasis on Pit Bulls.
Our passion lies not only in animal rescue, but in our animal advocacy mission. Our 2nd mission as advocates is to educate. Our goal is to educate the public regarding the unfair stigma associated with "Bully Breeds" and to foster reform laws so that no-kill shelters are the norm.
