Ramsey & Skye Desperately Need Your Help

Ramsey & Skye are in terrible physical condition. They were at a shelter where they had no opportunities, and this is where their stories would have ended. But the shelter reached out to us and asked if we could help these 2 kind souls. Of course, we said yes!

Ramsey, the Golden, was turned in to the shelter because he was old (14 years) and had a large tumor.

Skye (3-years-old) was found wandering along a local freeway with a torn ligament in her hind right knee. When we arrived, she was very depressed and shut-down.

Please consider making a donation to help us provide the care these two dogs need. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Updates

  • Update

We have another update for all of you following the progress of these 2 sweet souls.

Skye had her surgery last Thursday. As a reminder, this was to repair the torn ligament in her hind right knee. She is recovering and doing well. She will need 3 months of restrictions to fully heal but then she will be good as new! She is still at the vet's office where she can receive the after-surgery care she needs.

    Here is Ramsey:

Ramsey is doing well in his foster home. He is being loved and he's receiving excellent care. We are still monitoring him to keep an eye on his tumor. Removing a tumor of that size would be a very challenging surgery for a dog his age. No decision has been made yet on that, but we will follow the advise of his doctors as to if and when he should have the surgery.

We are close to meeting our fundraising goal for these two dogs. Please continue to share their stories with family and friends so that we can do just that.

Thank you for your support and concern.

    Warm regards,

Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles Rescue

We have another update for you.

Skye's surgery is scheduled for later this week. Her spirits have DRAMATICALLY improved! She is feeling so much better. She is happy and playing with other dogs, and she loves people. And, she is putting on weight.

Ramsey is doing well in his foster home but his tumor seems to be bothering him so we are consulting with his doctors to determine the best course of treatment.

Thank you for your support and for continuing to share this fundraiser with family and friends. We couldn't do it without you!

    Warm regards,

Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles Rescue

  • Update

We are so excited about the success of this fundraising campaign for Ramsey and Skye so far that we wanted to give you a quick update.

We are just over halfway towards achieving our fundraising goal. This has been possible because of the tremendous support and generosity of people like you.

Here is an update on the dogs

    • Ramsey went to a foster home yesterday. He is taking antibiotics for his infected tumor. He is being monitored closely and will receive whatever medical care is deemed necessary in the weeks ahead.
    • Skye is starting to blossom at the vet's office. Her strength is improving everyday now that she is getting good food, medical care, and short walks to the play yard to hang out with our volunteers.  She has actually started playing a little bit with toys! She is continuing with her antibiotics and we're hoping that she can have a surgery to repair her knee in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you for your support! Please know that it's because of you that dogs like this are getting a second chance.

    Warm regards,

Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles Rescue

Campaign Details

Once Ramsey arrived at our vet's office, we discovered that he actually had 2 masses, 1 of which is infected. Ramsey also has a corneal ulcer. In addition, he has one testicle that’s huge and one that’s small, and he has a scrotal skin infection.

Ramsey is the sweetest boy and, in spite of his poor physical condition, is happy as can be. He’s good with everyone he meets, and he likes other dogs too. We can’t imagine anyone letting him get this bad.

Skye is the cream-colored dog. The torn ligament in her knee (right hind leg) makes it difficult and painful for her to use that leg. She also has a small hole in her back side (pelvic region), something similar to a bed sore. She may have gotten this by sitting in a filthy cage for long periods of time. In addition, she has a urinary tract infection (UTI), fleas, and tapeworms.

Our goal for Ramsey is to get an accurate diagnosis of his many health issues, treat the ones we can, make sure he’s comfortable, and send him to a loving foster home for the rest of the time he has left. A foster home has already been found and is eagerly awaiting his arrival!

For Skye, we would like to repair her torn knee and the hole in her pelvic region. She is currently on antibiotics for her UTI, and she is being treated for the fleas and tapeworms. Once Skye is finished with all of her medical care, she will be available for adoption.

A donation of any amount will help us to make sure these 2 dogs get the care they need. Also, please share this fundraiser with any family members and friends who you think may be interested in helping too. Thank you!
