Campaign Details
Meet Nadia, our most recent Forever Foster.
She was an unclaimed Stray from the Kings County Shelter. When we first saw her picture, we thought she'd been in mud, but the black was her skin as she'd lost her hair! Initially, we thought she had Demodex (mange), but no mites were found on any of the skin scrapings or biopsies! It is a secondary yeast infection caused by allergies, which we haven't been able to test for as she had to have surgery for pyometra, a uterine infection, which is fatal, if not treated. She is currently on medicated shampoo and allergy pills. Her skin is no longer cracked and smelly, but very little of her hair has regrown. It may take up to a year for her hair to grow back, or her skin may be so damaged that she may remain hairless. However, without a diagnosis, she will remain a Forever Foster and is currently living in a foster-to-adopt home.
We know that some of you are struggling too, so if you're not in the position to donate, you can also help by sharing our campaign with others you think might want to help too.
Somehow, we always find a way to make it through for the benefit of those precious souls. Sometimes it almost seems impossible and we look back and wonder how we got by. Then we quickly remember, our miracle is you!

Golden Gate Basset Rescue
About the Organization
Golden Gate Basset Rescue takes bassets from owners who can no longer provide a safe and loving home, and from shelters all over northern California, the Reno area of Nevada, and the southern Oregon area on a temporary basis. That's a huge area to cover. We place our bassets in foster homes, provide the medical and behavioral care they need, and place them in safe, approved, homes. Some stay in our care for the rest of their lives...
